John Dodson, Curtis Millender among 14 ex-UFC fighters to compete on XMMA 4 card
XMMA is set for their fourth card on Saturday, April 2 in New Orleans and the card will feature a ton of UFC veterans like John Dodson.
Over the past couple of weeks, it has been reported several UFC veterans have been added to the card but now MMAJunkie confirmed 14 UFC veterans will be on the card including Dodson.
The most notable name, of course, is John Dodson who was released by the Las Vegas-based promotion in 2020 after he suffered a decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 252. Since the release, he was the main event of XMMA 3 in Miami where he suffered a decision loss to Cody Gibson. He complied a UFC record of 10-8 including winning TUF 14 as he defeated TJ Dillashaw in the finals. He also fought for the UFC flyweight title but lost a decision to Demetirous Johnson. Dodson holds notable wins over Pedro Munhoz, Nathaniel Wood, Tim Elliott, and Eddie Wineland among others.
Dodson will face Francisco Rivera in the main event of the card. Rivera, of course, was in the UFC from 2012-2016 where he went 3-5 and one No Contest with a notable win over Alex Caceres.
The co-main event of XMMA 4 will see Curtis Millender take on Jared Gooden.
Millender is on a three-fight losing streak as he lost to Sabah Homasi by decision in Bellator and then in last year’s PFL season he lost to Rory MacDonald by submission and Magomed Magomedkerimov by submission. Millender went 3-2 in the UFC with wins over Max Griffin, and a KO win over Thiago Alves, while also beating Kevin Holland by decision in LFA. His losses were to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Belal Muhammad.
Jared Gooden, meanwhile, went 1-3 in the UFC as he started out his tenure with back-to-back losses to Alan Jouban by decision and Abubakar Nurmagomedov by decision. He then knocked out Nikolas Stolze but suffered a decision loss to Randy Brown and was not re-signed. Since his UFC departure, he defeated Aaron Highbaugh by decision in Jorge Masvidal’s iKon FC.
