Sergio DaSilva is in for the fight of his life.  The professional mixed martial artist currently on trial in New York for allegedly robbing an Astoria, Queens bank in the summer of 2017, could face years behind bars if convicted.

Yesterday however, DaSilva had help from a friend. John Gotti Jr., the son of the late famed mob boss John Gotti, showed up during jury deliberations Tuesday saying that his son John Gotti III has trained with DaSilva, and that he is innocent. Gotti III currently fights for CES MMA.

Gotti Jr. described DaSilva as “a magnificent father” who “brings his son with him to the gym all the time.”

The prosecution states that the fighter took an estimated $50k from the bank and later gambled at two casinos. He is being charged with two felony robbery charges including 1st degree robbery while displaying a firearm.

Jurors deliberated yesterday with no conclusion and will continue today at Queens Supreme Court in Kew Gardens.
