John Lineker – “My conversation is inside the cage”
John Lineker (35-9) is the ONE Championship bantamweight champion, the top dog of his division.
After dethroning Bibiano Fernandes at ONE: Lights Out in March, Lineker solidified his spot as one of the top 135-pounders not only in the promotion, but in the entire world.
Another man who feels he is the best in the world, Fabricio Andrade has been touting himself as the “uncrowned bantamweight king.”
With victories over Mark Abelardo, Shoko Sato, Kai Wen Li, and Jeremy Pacatiw, Andrade will be tested in his fifth appearance with the Singapore based combat sports promotion when he meets Won Il Kwon this Friday at ONE: 158.
Ahead of that event in Singapore, Lineker was asked about his thoughts on Andrade’s comments.
“They like to talk to promote themselves,” Lineker said. “Talking is free, right? (laughs). But I let them talk, I let them run after me. As they talk, I’m training and getting stronger and ready to defend my title. My conversation is different. My conversation is inside the cage. And they all know that my conversation is very tough, that inside the cage the conversation is different.”
A win this weekend for Andrade could potentially set up a shot against Lineker later down the road. The division is stacked and there is no telling exactly what will happen or who the matchmakers decide to put in front of the champion, but there is no doubt about it; whoever they put in front of him, John Lineker will be ready.
