John Lineker: ONE vs. UFC champions fight against Petr Yan “would be crazy”

ONE Championship bantamweight champion John Lineker believes that a ONE vs. UFC champions fight against Petr Yan “would be crazy.”

Lineker became the ONE bantamweight champion last month when he knocked out Bibiano Fernandes to take the title. The former UFC title standout is 4-0 since leaving the UFC in 2019, with his last three wins coming by way of knockout. Although Lineker is not in the Octagon anymore, there are tons of fans who would love to see him fight Yan, the UFC champion in what would be an incredible fight between two of the hardest punchers we have ever seen at 135lbs.

Speaking to AG Fight in a recent interview, Lineker spoke about a potential champion vs. champion fight against Yan, calling it “crazy” and saying that “it would be a show” for MMA fans.

“What you could do was (a fight) between the ONE champion against the UFC champion, right?! It would be very interesting. A fight against Petr Yan would be crazy, he likes beatings and I love it. It would be a show. One of the two is going to fall,” Lineker said.

Although Lineker would love to fight Yan, the chances of that happening are low. Lineker is under contract with ONE and he loves it there, so the chances of him returning to the UFC are slim. However, if a crossover fight could ever happen, then it doesn’t get much better than this one.

“For sure I could beat anyone at bantamweight there, because I’m a guy who’s looking for that. But returning to the UFC, at the moment, I don’t have that thought. I’m very good at ONE, valued, respected. They like me a lot and I want to make my career here. Anything is possible, but my thoughts are on ONE,” Lineker said.

Who do you think would win a UFC vs. ONE championship fight between Petr Yan and John Lineker?
