Jon Jones says Khabib Nurmagomedov becoming No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter is “number one bullsh*t”
Jon Jones doesn’t think Khabib Nurmagomedov deserves to be the UFC’s number one pound-for-pound fighter.
Following Nurmagomedov’s second-round submission over Justin Gaethje to defend his lightweight, the undefeated Dagestani announced his retirement from the sport and said his last wish was to be ranked as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
Well, he got his wish as the updated UFC rankings have him atop the pound-for-pound rankings much to the despair of Jon Jones.

“This is number one bullshit,” Jon Jones wrote.
In several other tweets, Jones explained why his record is more impressive and believes even though Nurmagomedov is retiring he should not be the top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter.
Unanimous decision over last minute replacement Al Iaquinta to become champion🤷🏾♂️ Conor McGregor is the only opponent he’s ever had that the general public actually knew. Catapulted my man to becoming the best ever, this is hilarious

Unanimous decision over last minute replacement Al Iaquinta to become champion. Conor McGregor is the only opponent he’s ever had that the general public actually knew. Catapulted my man to becoming the best ever, this is hilarious,” he added.
The former UFC light heavyweight also took to Instagram to release a video explaining why he is still the GOAT and not Nurmagomedov.
“I’m talking to all you Khabib fans out there. 15 world titles to your guys four and you are really talking about who is the best fighter ever. You guys are joking right? 15 to 4. Are you guys kidding me? The only person that can possibly come back and challenge my record of what I’ve done in the UFC is possibly Georges St-Pierre. He would have to come back and win two championship fights to tie me,” Jon Jones said on Instagram. “And, I’m not even retired yet. I’m 33-years-old, I got a whole other chapter to go through. You guys are nuts. I love you guys so much and hope you all have a great day.
“15 world championships to four. And, if all you are going with this, well he is more dominant argument,” he continued. “The guy just recently started fighting elite-level competition. Could you imagine me against the 10th ranked guy?”
Both Jon Jones and Khabib Nurmagomedov have cases to be considered the GOAT. However, it could be recency bias coming into play and the fact Nurmagomedov is retiring as to why he is the top P4P fighter in the UFC, which Jones is not happy about.
