Jon Jones signs new eight-fight deal with the UFC

It was revealed on Saturday night following he UFC Vegs 67 event’s conclusion that the rumored UFC 285 heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane was indeed a done deal.

UFC President Dana White also concluded that the former UFC light heavyweight champion in Jones has signed a new eight-fight deal with the promotion.

Earlier in the night, images began to surface of a promotional billboard being displayed outside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The image featured the announcement of the bout between Jones and Gane.

But where as UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in the discussion?

White confirmed that Ngannou and the UFC could not work out a deal, one that according to White would have made the Cameroonian champion the highest paid heavyweight competitor in the promotion’s history. Instead, Ngannou was released from contract and will be allowed to compete wherever he wants.
