Jon Jones’ B sample test comes back positive for turinabol metabolites

Turinabol turns up second time

Just weeks ago a pre-fight urine sample collected from Jon Jones before his UFC 214 title fight with Daniel Cormier came back positive for turinabol metabolites.  Today, UFC Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky confirmed to MMAJunkie that a second sample, the B-sample also tested positive.

Jones defeated Cormier and recaptured the UFC light heavyweight title via knockout July 29.

Accoring to the MMAJunkie report, “Jones, 30, is now likely to go to arbitration with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which administered the test, in an attempt to clear his name. That process could take anywhere from three to six months. His representatives have maintained his innocence.”

Jones passed out-of-competition tests on July 6 and July 7 and also passed a blood test conducted on fight night. His first failed sample was collected July 28, the day of weigh-ins.

the champion faces a four-year ban for his second doping violation and could be stripped of his title, according to UFC President Dana White.
