Jordan Leavitt talks about his historic submission win at UFC Vegas 45
Jordan Leavitt is fully aware that he has such a high skill set whenever a fight goes to the ground. Usually when he fights, he’s obviously the one trying to get the fight to the canvas, but at UFC Vegas 45, that wasn’t the case.
In his fight with Matt Sayles at UFC Vegas 45, the first round was filled with plenty of scrambles and in the second round, Sayles surprisingly shot in for a takedown and the move didn’t play out well for him.
When Sayles slammed Leavitt to the ground, Leavitt was able to position his body into a rare spot and for plenty of people viewing the position weren’t sure what was going on. We’ll it turns out the position Leavitt was in was a successful one as he ended up securing an inverted triangle choke that forced Sayles to tap out.
The reason why that submission may have seemed odd in real time is because its not a move that you see everyday. In fact, Leavitt became just the third person in UFC history to win a fight by way of an inverted triangle choke.
Following the historic UFC win, Leavitt spoke with MyMMANews about his performance, training at Syndicate MMA in his hometown of Las Vegas and finishing up his political science degree at UNLV.
