Merab Dvalishvili outworks Jose Aldo, secures eighth-straight win at UFC 278

Jose Aldo reacts to loss against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo reacted to his loss against fellow bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278.

Although he defended all of the takedowns his opponent attempted, Aldo could not get his offense going and lost a unanimous decision to Dvalishvili on the judges’ scorecards. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for Aldo, who had defeated Rob Font, Pedro Munhoz, and Marlon Vera prior to that. Dvalishvili, meanwhile, improved his win streak to eight straight fights.

Following the loss for Aldo, the former featherweight kingpin took to his social media to address his fans and react to his defeat. Check out what Aldo shared on his Instagram.

“We are the history we make. Take care of every detail of your path, every step, step or bend. Every challenge and every accomplishment He is a better planner than you. You may even doubt him but he will always believe in you. He put you in this world to shine. To be better every day To smile and make people around you smile. What matters is what makes your heartbeat. Don’t accept a life less than you deserve. Thank you for all the affection I receive along my journey, it’s priceless. Who will be in the trenches next to you? – and does it matter? – More than the war itself,” Aldo wrote.

For Aldo, the loss to Dvalishvili likely signals the end of his days making a run for the UFC bantamweight championship as there are several other contenders ahead of him in the line for a title shot. That being said, he is still one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to fight again, and if so, if it’s at 135lbs or 145lbs.

What do you think is next for Jose Aldo after losing to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278?
