Josh Emmett eyes showdown with ‘legend’ Jose Also at MSG
Following his first round TKO victory over Mirsad Bektic at UFC Sacramento, Josh Emmett checks with MyMMANews.com to recap the big win over the weekend.
Josh discusses how crazy life has been since the big win, how he can never sleep after his fights, his relationship with fellow UFC Sacramento winner Andre Fili, how they were on the same card in Josh’s pro debut — which took place in a boxing ring and includes a story of Fili jumping the cage to help his friends during a melee in the crowd — his performance over Mirsad Bektic, why he wasn’t surprised he finished the fight in the first round, Urijah Faber’s big win over Ricky Simon and much more.
In addition, a bunch of ranked featherweights were presented to him as possible next opponents. In the end, Emmett has his eye on a legendary opponent in a legendary arena.
“In a perfect world, I was thinking it would be awesome to fight a legend of the sport,” Emmett told MyMMANews.com. “I’d love to fight Jose Aldo at MSG in November. That would be my ideal situation. I’m not sure what’s going on with him and he’s such a big name. I’ve been such a big fan of him since I’ve been a fan of mixed martial arts. He’s been the champion for a long time, he’s beaten some of my teammates and he’s a good guy, too. But I would love to get in there and mix it up with Jose Aldo, especially in such an iconic arena.
“I’m thinking about this and if I can fight him, get a win over a former champion, a legend of the sport, there’s nothing left but a title shot for me.”
