Unbeaten rising stars Josiah Harrell and Homer Mangram square off at Ohio Combat League 16

Two undefeated lightweights who are quickly rising up the regional ranks are set to square off later this month at Ohio Combat League 16, as Josiah Harrel faces Homer Mangram.

Harrell looks to hold home court, as the Ohio native is 3-0 as a pro with all three wins via finish under the OCL banner. Most recently, he earned a TKO stoppage over Timmy Tyler at OCL 14 in July when his opponent was unable to continue after the first round. He also posted a rear naked choke submission victory over Carlos Garnett at OCL 10 in March and an arm bar win over Will Worley in his pro debut at OCL 7 last year.

Still just 22 years old, Harrell trains out of Grove City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is ranked as the No. 5 pro lightweight in Ohio according to Tapology.

Mangram looks to play spoiler as he makes the trek from Georgia to Ohio with an unbeaten 3-0 record as well. The Rush MMA product has also earned all three of his wins via stoppage, including a 16-second knockout over Warren Smith at NFC 136 in August. He’s ranked as the No. 6 pro lightweight in Georgia.

In the night’s other pro bout at OCL 16, two big hitting heavyweights from Ohio will throw down, as Antwan Phillips takes on Dan Stevenson.

Phillips has won his first two fights as a pro after making the jump from the amateur ranks earlier this year. Most recently, he submitted Marcus Maulding in the first round at OCL 12 in May.

A product of Matt Brown’s Immortal Martial Arts, Stevenson comes in looking for his second win in a row after submitting Jawaski Bethly in the first round at B2 Fighting Series 136 in October. “The Masterpiece” is 1-1 under the OCL banner as a pro, with a TKO win in his pro debut over Anthony Coleman at OCL 4 in 2019 and a TKO loss against Pierre Walters at OCL 7 last year.

On the amateur side of the card, OCL flyweight champion Josh Perreira returns to action, as he faces James Jeffries in a non-title bout. Perreira is riding a four-fight winning streak after losing his amateur debut, while Jeffries looks to bounce back from two straight losses.

Ohio Combat League 16 takes place  Nov. 20 at Hoops by Nature in Grove City, Ohio, and will be streamed via pay-per-view on CombatSportsNow.com.
