Julia Avila talks upcoming fight against Miesha Tate and motherhood
Julia Avila will make her return to the octagon at UFC Austin after two and a half years away from competition.
Avila’s absent from the fight game was due to a great reason.
In October of 2022, Avila gave birth to her daughter Eris Luisa to become a mother for the first time. The birth of her daughter has been a dream come true and Avila has loved every single moment of it.
Shortly after Eris was born, Avila spoke with MyMMANews just ahead of her Christmas as a mother and she discussed her comeback to the UFC.
Avila made it clear that she wasn’t going to rush the process and that when she felt she was ready to come back, that would be the time to get a fight booked.
Now that time has come as Avila will return on Dec. 2 at UFC Austin to take on a big time opponent in former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate.
The matchup is not only the biggest of Avila’s career, but its almost a mom battle as Tate has two daughter’s of her own.
Both Avila and Tate respect each others as mother’s and they both are looking forward to the fight.
For Avila, she’s looking to try and pick up where she left off.
Prior to her absence, “The Ranging Panda” was on a great run within the women’s bantamweight division as she posted a 9-2 record, which included a 3-1 record in the UFC.
As a result of what she’s did inside of the cage, Avila cracked the official UFC bantamweight rankings and despite the absence, she is still currently ranked.
Prior to UFC Austin, Avila spoke with MyMMANews to discuss her upcoming fight, her preparation for her return and life as a mom.
You can watch her full interview in the video above.
