Junior dos Santos unsure what is next after Francis Ngannou loss

In the main event of UFC Minneapolis, Junior dos Santos was taking on Francis Ngannou in a pivotal heavyweight fight. Many expected the winner of the fight to fight for the title next, and Ngannou ended up knocking out the Brazilian in the first round.

Now, after a tough loss, Junior dos Santos doesn’t know what is next for him.

“It wasn’t in my plans (to lose), so I don’t really know,” Junior dos Santos said at the post-fight press conference (via MMA Junkie). “I had a lot of plans in a different situation and a different result. It’s so hard to build your way up in this sport. Sometimes all of a sudden (everything) disappears from in front of you. I’m a positive guy and I’m ready to rebuild. I know how to do it. I’m made of truth and I’m truth. I know how to do it again and I will do it again. Congratulations to him.”

Although he isn’t sure what is next, dos Santos wants another fight. He knows getting back in the win column will make him forgot this loss rather quickly.

“Having another fight, it’s kind of a medicine for me to heal this injury defeat causes on you,” dos Santos said. “I want to fight as soon as I’m able to fight again. Let’s go back home, think about everything that happened (and) get back to work. I believe I belong to this world of fighting.”

The Brazilian is still certain he will fight and win the heavyweight title again. But, this is just a small setback in what looked like a resurgence as of late in his career.

When and who he will fight next is up in the air, but the former champ makes it clear he wants to fight as soon as he can.
