Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway – Preview and Prediction

Justin Gaethje finds himself in a second straight BMF title fight at UFC 300 when he takes on former longtime featherweight champion Max Holloway.

Gaethje won the BMF title last summer when he used a head kicked to knock out Dustin Poirier.

For Holloway, this will be his second fight at lightweight and his first in several years as the last time we saw him at 155 pounds, he challenged Poirier for the interim lightweight title in which Poirier won by decision.

Ahead of this great fight at UFC 300, let’s preview the matchup and give a prediction. The preview and prediction can also be seen in the video above.

Breakdown

What’s there to say about Gaethje and Holloway that everyone doesn’t already now. Both men are highly entertaining, love to strike and have UFC gold in their careers.

I think its safe to say that this fight at UFC 300 has all the makings of a good one as both of these guys guys love to trade shot for shot.

The big story coming into this one is the power of Gaethje vs. the volume Holloway.

When Holloway fought Poirier, it was Poirier’s power that was the difference in the fight as Holloway was bloody and battered. Gaethje has a lot of power when he hits you, so we’ll see what adjustments he makes this time at 155 pounds.

On the other hand, Holloway can hit with a ton of volume and Gaethje is known for being wild inside of the octagon at times. If Gaethje gets wild and swings and misses, he has to watch for Holloway to counter with punches in bunches.

Tale of the Tape

Pretty even. Holloway has a two inch leg reach advantage, but outside of that its as close as it gets.

Oddsmakers

They like Gaethje in this one as most betting sites have him over a -200 betting favorite.

Prediction

Holloway definitely has the tools to win this one and this fight has a potential fight of the night written all over it.

Let’s see if Holloway makes any adjustments from the last time he fought at lightweight, because if he doesn’t, I have a feeling Gaethje’s power may given him similar troubles to what Poirier gave him a few years ago.

With that being said, I’m leaning with the oddsmakers here and going with the power of Gaethje to be the factor.

Prediction: Justin Gaethje defeats Max Holloway at UFC 300
