JW Fight Night, Steve Garcia

JW Fight Night 5 Headlined by Steve Garcia vs. Andrew Whitney

May 10 will be a celebration of 25 years of promoting combat sports in ‘The Land of Enchantment’ for promoter Lenny Fresquez and Fresquez Productions. To celebrate they will do what they do best, throw an MMA event, JW Fight Night 5.

The event will take place at the Isleta Resort and Casino Showroom, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as have the previous four JW Fight Night shows. The main event will see New Mexico’s own, Steve “Mean Machine” Garcia Jr. (8-3) from JacksonWink MMA, versus Andrew “The Beast” Whitney (16-6), a native of Springfield, Missouri, who is fighting out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Garcia has a 63 percent finishing rate, with five of eight wins being finishes, all knockouts. “The Mean Machine” earned five wins and two losses in seven trips inside the Bellator cage. Garcia hosted a two-fight skid in November, picking up a decision win over Able Cullum, in the main event of JW Fight Night 4. Whitney, also an impressive finisher, with three fourths of his wins being finishes. “The Beast” has won six of his last eight contests, the last two finishes of Keith Richardson and Dylan Cala, under the 864 Fighting Championships banner.

On Tuesday, April 2, at 2pm MT, Fresquez Productions will be hosting a press conference at Triple Sevens inside the Isleta Resort and Casino. Participants in JW Fight Night 5 are expected to be on hand, as well as Holly Holm. Fresquez Productions has also teased that there will also be news on an upcoming return to boxing, where they started.
