Kamaru Usman predicts how a boxing match with Canelo Alvarez would go

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman predicted how a boxing match with boxing pound-for-pound superstar Canelo Alvarez would go.

Usman has been calling out Alvarez for a while now, and following his latest win over Colby Covington at UFC 268, he believes now is the right time for the fight to happen. With Alvarez also coming off of a knockout win over Caleb Plant in his last fight, both guys are clearly at the top of their respective games right now. For Usman, the rare chance for MMA’s top P4P fighter and boxing’s top P4P fighter to step into the ring together in a boxing match makes this the fight to make, and he is hoping that Alvarez accepts his callout.

Catching up with TMZ Sports, Usman was asked about how a potential boxing match against Alvarez would go. As far as Usman goes, it would be a war, and he is excited to test himself against Alvarez’s skills.

“I expect a war each and every time I step in there, whether that’s a cage or a ring, period. He’s an amazing fighter, I take nothing away from him. If it happens, it happens. If not, it is what it is,” Usman said.

Asked to send a message to Alvarez, Usman simply said one word, “payday,” taking a shot back at Alvarez for him recently suggesting that’s why Usman wants the fight. “A payday for both,” Usman reminded TMZ.

Although Usman does want this fight next, Alvarez is currently slated to face Ilunga Makabu in a cruiserweight bout in his next fight, so Usman will likely have to wait. In the meantime, it is expected that Usman seems likely to face Leon Edwards next. Should both Usman and Alvarez emerge victoriously, perhaps then we can start giving serious consideration to this fight potentially happening sometime in 2022.

Do you want to see a boxing match between Kamaru Usman and Canelo Alvarez, and who do you think would win the fight?
