Kamaru Usman questions Tyron Woodley’s preparations
At UFC 235, Tyron Woodley will look to defend his welterweight title against Kamaru Usman. Although the two have yet to fight, the two have gone back-and-forth in trash talk at the UFC 235 press conference. Woodley’s main question was how would Usman beat him in which Usman didn’t have an answer.
Well, he now has one as speaking on Anatomy of a Fighter, Usman believes Woodley is playing himself up in front of the media and pretending to trash-talk.
“It kind of reiterated some things to me,” Usman said in an episode of Anatomy of a Fighter. “Like, I don’t know. I hope he’s just out there playing, just for the media, for the camera, to where he’s acting like he’s not taking this as serious as I’m taking it. Because I’m not coming to play. I’m not coming for that. So all that is done.”
Meanwhile, after many believed Woodley would be taking on interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington at UFC 235 for the belt. And now that he is fighting Usman, the challenger doesn’t think Woodley is taking him seriously. Rather he is already looking past him. If that turns out to be the case, Usman is confident he will make Woodley pay and beat him to hear ‘And New.’
“I’m expecting a war. He’s talking reckless. ‘Oh, I’m gonna punish him. I’m gonna make him pay.’ You ain’t never seen me punished. You ain’t never seen me quit. I’ve seen him quit. So you’ve never seen that out of me. So you can say whatever you want. At the end of the day, March 2nd, I’m gonna climb inside that cage, you gonna climb inside that cage, they’re gonna lock the motherfuckin’ door, and it’s gonna be a fight.”
For now, both Usman and Woodley are in their final preparations as it is officially fight week. The question now is, is Woodley taking Usman too lightly as Usman is suggesting?
