Kamaru Usman wants to become two-division UFC champion before retiring

Former UFC welterweight champion and former number one pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, Kamaru Usman, is not done fighting yet.

While Usman, 38, has recorded only one victory in the past four years, the “Nigerian Nightmare” has indicated that he intends to win two more titles before retiring from mixed martial arts.

“At this part of my career, the dream scenario is: next fight, win the welterweight title, vacate, win the middleweight title, retire,” Usman said.

“Just, ‘Boom, boom — one, two.’ And then you’re done. You can’t top that. It’s like, what else do I want out of this?”

Usman defeated Joaquin Buckley by way of unanimous decision in June, his first victory since defeating Colby Covington in November 2021.

The former champion dropped two bouts in a row to former welterweight champion Leon Edwards and then one to current middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev before getting back on track.
