Kayla Harrison to fight at Madison Square Garden on New Year’s Eve

Two-time Olympic judo gold medalist Kayla Harrison will step back into the cage for her third professional mixed martial arts bout on New Year’s Eve.

The 28-year old Harrison is set to compete at the final event for the Professional Fighters League’s inaugural season, PFL 11 at Madison Square Garden.

Harrison will face Moriel Charneski in a lightweight bout.

Harrison is the first judoka from the United States to win Olympic gold when she took home the medal at the 2012 Olympics in London, England She then won gold again four years later in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Harrison is undefeated in MMA, winning both fights under the PFL banner. She first submitted Brittney Elkin at PFL 2 and then TKO’s Jozette Cotton at PFL 6.

Charneski sports a 3-4 record and has not competed since December 2017 where she defeated Sarah Patterson for Revolution Combat Championships.
