Kelvin Gastelum embarrassed by submission loss to Jack Hermansson
Kelvin Gastelum is not happy about his performance as it marked the quickest loss of his career.
In Saturday’s co-main event, Gastelum (15-6) was submitted in 78 seconds by a heel hook from Jack Hermansson (21-5).
In the exchange, Hermansson went to the clinch, and Gastelum countered and flipped Hermansson on to his back. Next thing you know, Hermansson had ahold of Gastelum’s leg and Gastelum was tapping out.
Gastelum went to Instagram to address the loss and to thank his family, team, friend and fans for having his back.

“Truly embarrassed guys,” Gastelum wrote in his Instagram post. “I’m sorry. My team, my family @UFC @danawhite @Mickmaynard2. I’m much better than what was shown tonight. Thanks to all my family , my team and my friends for the ongoing support. I love you all.
You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so u can know who u are, what u can rise from, how u can still come out of it.”
Gastelum is in a unique spot in his career as he’s now on a three-fight losing streak and he’s lost four of his last six. He lost a back-and-forth interim title fight to Israel Adesanya and then a split decision to Darren Till before losing to Hermansson.
