Kenny Florian previews UFC 288 and discusses the futures of Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou

Since calling it a career in fighting, former UFC veteran Kenny Florian has been a staple in the combat sports media world and as a commentator on BattleBots. The co-host of the Anik & Florian Podcast with UFC lead play-by-play man, Jon Anik, on DraftKings, Florian can also be heard on PFL broadcast as a color commentator.

Ahead of this weekend’s UFC 288 event, Kenny Florian spoke with MyMMANews.com to preview the main event bantamweight title fight between champion Aljamain Sterling and former champion, Henry Cejudo. Florian also discussed the co-main event between welterweight challengers Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns. With both fighters taking the fight on short notice, they both have said that a win could leapfrog them into being the next title challenger to champion Leon Edwards.

Kenny Florian also dove in on numerous topics related to the current news in the MMA world, including the potential retirement of UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Earlier this week, Jones said there is a possibility he could retire from fighting after his fight against former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, however, a fight against Francis Ngannou could entice him to stay active and hold off on his retirement. Florian discusses what motivates Jones at this stage of his career and gives his thoughts on the future of Jones.

Speaking of Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion is still a free agent after parting ways with the UFC to test the market, including a potential boxing match, but nothing has come to fruition as of now. With ONE Championship recently saying they won’t offer a contract to Ngannou, the options seem to be decreasing for the former champion, but Florian discusses how he would fit in the PFL or a potential return to the UFC.

Watch the video above to watch Kenny Florian preview UFC 288 and discuss some of the hottest current news in the combat sports world.
