Ketlen Vieira issues statement following career-best win over Miesha Tate at UFC Vegas 43
UFC women’s bantamweight contender Ketlen Vieira issued a statement following her career-best win over Miesha Tate at UFC Vegas 43.
In what was her first UFC main event, Vieira went the full five rounds and earned a hard-fought unanimous decision win over Tate. While it was far from the most exciting fight, the fact that Vieira was able to beat a true legend of the sport like Tate and put the Tate name on her resume is huge for her. Following the win, Vieira took to her social media and issued a statement about her win at UFC Vegas 43, which improved her overall record in the UFC to 6-2.
“I don’t have words to explain how God works in my life and how grateful I am for everything! Everything I went through these last few months served to make me a better athlete, but mainly a better person! I want to be a champion inside and outside the octagon,” Vieira wrote. “Thank you my God for everything! Thank you for putting wonderful people in my path as I know they were sent by you sir! My gratitude to all my teachers, everyone who contributed to this result, my first teachers too, because you are part of this story! Thanks to my entire team, my wonderful doctor, my nutritionist, my physiotherapist and my sinister training partners who prepared me for this war! My thanks to the people who cheer for me and pray for me, may God bless each one of you so much! Thank you to my companion at all times, who is always motivating me to be better every day, thank you, my love, I love you! Thank you, my dear mother, for all your prayers, I know God heard you! Thank you, my beloved brothers, you are my greatest pride! Thank you my dear father who I love so much and thank you for all your prayers!” continued Vieira. “Once again I want to leave my gratitude to all the people who helped me directly and indirectly, God bless you all! I want to leave a message for you who follow me: Believe in God, believe with all your heart, because God is infinitely powerful to do infinitely more than you can imagine! All things work together for good to those who love God!”
