Kevin Holland offers to replace Karl Roberson, hours before UFC on ESPN+ 29
Kevin Holland is trying to save the day.
The UFC announced earlier today the removal of a middleweight bout between Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori from the UFC on ESPN+ 29 event tonight, Wednesday, May 13. A little over an hour after the news broke, Holland offered up his services.
The 27-year-old is already in Jacksonville, Florida for his bout with Alexander Hernandez at UFC on ESPN 8 this Saturday, May 16. Holland made his offer on Twitter.
“@TheJamesKrause stepped up on weigh in day. I’ll step up on fight day. Put me in coach! @Mickmaynard2 @danawhite I’m for real. I’ll fight tonight and Saturday. @MarvinVettori gave me the stank eye in the hotel,” Holland said via Twitter.

With about five hours till the event based on the time of Holland’s social media post, a lot needs to happen to make the bout official.
Kevin Holland is coming off a submission loss to Brendan Allen at UFC on ESPN 6 in October 2019. The defeat snapped a three-fight win streak for Holland. Vettori is unbeaten in his last two outings, most recently defeating Andrew Sanchez via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN+19 in October 2019.
Roberson failed to make weight by 1.5 pounds on Tuesday, May 12. He later fell ill and was sent to a local hospital. Roberson was released Wednesday morning, but was deemed unfit to compete.
Light-heavyweights Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira headline the event tonight, airing on ESPN+.
