Kyle Daukaus previews his upcoming fight against Julian Marquez
Kyle Daukaus has a great opportunity in front of him.
Later this month at UFC Vegas 48 on Feb. 19, Daukaus will fight Julian Marquez a middleweight matchup.
For Daukaus, he is coming into the fight after one of the weirdest ending to a fight ever. He was fighting a ranked opponent in Kevin Holland and Daukaus thought he had a first round submission win, but a replay showed there was an accidental headed butt that hurt Holland and the fight was ruled a no contest.
Daukaus and Holland were then booked to rematch and the fight never happened.
Meanwhile, Marquez returned to the octagon last year for the first time since 2018 after dealing with injuries and rattled off two submission victories. Not only did he get two wins, but he also had a great post-fight moment where he asked Miley Cyrus on a date.
Now with both trending in the right direction, Daukaus feels the winner should be able to crack the rankings.
Prior to the fight, Daukaus spoke to MyMMANews about his upcoming fight with Marquez, the landscape of the middleweight division and he looked back on that crazy ending to his fight with Holland.
Aside from talking about his specific fighting career, Daukaus also talked about the importance of supporting regional MMA. Him and his brother, UFC heavyweight Chris Daukaus, are often seen at events in their home city of Philadelphia supporting their teammates and local shows. Daukaus is thankful for promotions like Art of War that helped him when he was an upcoming fighter and he will always continue to support regional MMA and his younger teammates in their adventures.
