Lando Vannata: looking to make UFC 234 bout “a f*cking dog fight”
Walking ‘Performance Bonus’ machine “Groovy” Lando Vannata will head to the ‘Land Down Under’ for a UFC 234 meeting with promotional newcomer Marcos Mariano. In a positive place in his life, Vannata plans to get back on track after going 0-2-2 in his last four-fights.
The last fight you got to live out a dream and fight in Madison Square Garden?
“It was cool man but would have been better if it wasn’t a draw. MSG was cool, was nice to spend some time in New York City and I enjoyed it”.
I know that having the right vibes going is a big thing for you and your back training at the Jackson’s Acoma gym, how is the vibe?
It’s been a large upgrade. I’m enjoying it very, very much. It’s tight-knit. I like everybody that’s here. There’s no drama it’s just good training, good vibes, good time”.
Nick Urso is now your striking coach can you tell us about the fundamentals his style?
“Fundamentals, a lot of it is drilling the fundamentals get the proper reactions and everything like that. Just going back to the basics and making sure they’re sound”.
On Instagram I’ve notice you’ve enjoyed the colder then normal winters we’ve had here in Albuquerque going up to the Sandia Mountains for some brisk runs.
“I like winter time, adapting to the cold and getting used to it. It’s been real nice having a cold winter to be able to go out and run in the snow in just shorts an shoes and adapt to it. It’s super good for your body and for your mind. Just makes you feel like a f*cking badass.”
There was some confusion on the internet about who you’re fighting, what have you learned about Marcos Marianda?
“Yeah we watched a little bit of tape and he’s a solid striker. He’s good on the feet. He has some good defensive grappling. You know looking to get out there and do what I always do make it a f*ucking dog fight and see if he can hang.”
