Lawler-MacDonald announced for UFC 189

The already established July 11 UFC pay-per-view featuring the featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor now has a second championship bout, as Robbie Lawler will defend his UFC welterweight crown against Canada’s Rory MacDonald.  The bout is speculated to be the evening’s co-main event.

The matchup, which is a rematch of a 2013 bout won by Lawler, was announced by UFC president Dana White at a speical Las Vegas press conference today that pertained to the UFC’s stance on performance enhancing drugs and in and out of competition testing.

UFC 189 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
