Atomweights Lindsey VanZandt and Marisa Messer-Belenchia added to Bellator 215
It appears as if Lindsey VanZandt and Marisa Messer-Belenchia will face off in an atomweight bout at Bellator 215 on February 15.
As of press time nothing has officially been announced by Bellator MMA, however, after seeing that the Northeast’s top atomweight, Lindsey VanZandt, has signed a bout agreement to compete at the Bellator event being held at the Mohegan Sun Arena, we dug into social media to try and discover her opponent.
It is our expectation and belief that Mohegan Sun will be witness to ‘The Damsel’ vs. ‘The Spider Monkey’.
Both fighters recently posted Bellator photos plastered with their likeness on social media. When you take a look at the women’s atomweight competition in the northeast it does not take very long to put speculation to rest.
Messer-Belenchia (2-0) is coming off a third-round submission win over Kaiyana Rain at CES 51 in August 2018.
VanZandt (4-1) sustained her first and only pro loss in 2018 when she dropped a unanimous decision in her Invicta FC debut. VanZandt displayed a ton of heart and potential in the loss to Kelly D’Angelo which then fueled her to immediately jump back on the horse and earn a knockout victory over Melissa Karagianis at King of the Cage.
Bellator 215 is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov.
