Logan Storley talks possible Amosov rematch pre-Bellator 274
Logan Storley tests skills with Neiman Gracie on February 19th at Bellator 274. This welterweight main event bout emanates from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Storley has since rebounded from his lone pro-MMA loss to current divisional titleholder Yaroslav Amosov. He bested Dante Schiro last August at Bellator 265.
The surging Sanford MMA product now looks for back-to-back Bellator MMA wins this weekend. Storley, the current number five ranked welterweight in the company, takes on the presently situated number four contender at 170 lbs, Neiman Gracie.
I spoke with Storley at the pre-fight virtual media day. Excerpts from our interaction are below.
Logan Storley
That rich Golden Gophers Wrestling lineage and the compounding confidence from being part of that elite group of wrestlers that still informs what Storley is doing now
“Yeah, you know, we were a top-ranked team. In the country year after year. All my teammates were All-Americans, won three national dual titles. And we outworked everyone. Being around those guys and seeing the former alumni, the greats, that really helps you. I still go back in the room with those guys. And coming from that program, one of the best programs ever, that made me who I am. So there’s a lot of confidence from those days and those years at Minnesota.”
How Storley found his pace in the first Yaroslav Amosov fight and how that informs his confidence in a potential rematch transpiring in a title fight scenario
“Yeah, of course, you know. I’m continuing to improve and you find out who you are in those later rounds. You get to push the pace and really figure out how much this guy wants it. Who wants it. Who wants it more and that’s what wrestling since I was five years old has taught me. Dig deep and find a way to grind it out.”
