Ariane Lipski applies kneebar to submit Luana Carolina in first round

UFC Fight Island 2 continues with it’s main cars as Ariane Lipski takes on Luana Carolina. Lipski comes into the fight 12-5 coming off a win in 2019. Carolina, on the other hand, is 6-1, winning six straight. She made her UFC debut last year with a win over Priscila Cachoiera.

The two have been scheduled to fight three times total, with the first two dates being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, on the third time, the two women’s flyweights will finally be locked in the octagon.

The bout is between two contenders that are looking to rise in the women’s flyweight division and make a run in the rankings. The winner will likely get a shot at taking on a ranked contender later this year.

Luana Carolina – Ariane Lipski Round 1

Round one opens up with both fighters meeting in the center. Lipski pushes Carolina to the venue and fires a 1-2. Carolina throws a leg kick and Lipski catches Carolina and ends up in Carolina’s full guard. Carolina holds down Lipski to minimize damage. Lipski gets up and tries to pass guard and Carolina almost locks in a heel hook. Carolina goes for the back and Lipski gets a calf slicer. Lipski changes it up and gets a sitting up knee-bar, Carolina taps yelling in pain.

Lipski wins the fight in round 1 via knee bar at 1:28.

Lipski will likely get Performance or Submission of the Night. It was the second fastest submission in UFC flyweight history. Lipski said post fight she was preparing for the finish but was prepared for the jiu jitsu part of the game. She’s notched 7 career first round finishes.
