Luke Rockhold – Jacare Souza rematch to headline UFC return to Australia
Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold will rematch Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza in the main event in the UFC’s return to Melbourne, Australia, November 26.
The event will be held at the Rod Laver Arena and will be a rematch of their September 2011 fight that took place under the Strikeforce banner. On that night Rockhold would take the Brazilian’s Strikeforce title.
FOX Sports 1 will televise the event, which sees the UFC return to Melbourne for the first time since the historic UFC 193 event in November of 2015.
Rockhold lost the UFC middleweight title to Michael Bisping at UFC 199 in June.
Jacare scored a first-round knockout of Vitor Belfort in May.
The winner of this fight could be next in line for a title shot following the Dan Henderson vs. Bisping bout at UFC 204.
Rockhold is currently sitting at number 12 in the pound-for-pound best fighter rankings and number one in the middleweight rankings while Jacare is number three in the middleweight rankings.
