Marcin Wrzosek and Kleber Koike Erbst rematch for the title at KSW 44

The future of the KSW featherweight title will be decided at KSW 44 in Gdansk on June 9 when Marcin Wrzosek (13-4) and Kleber Koike Erbst (23-4-1) meet once again.

The pair first met last year at the historic KSW 39 event and in front of 57,766 fans it was Erbst who walked away with the decision win and the belt around his waist. However, in what was scheduled to be his first defense in December, Erbst missed weight thus relinquishing the belt. The fight with Artur Sowinski still went ahead and the submission expert scored the win with a rear naked choke in the third round but was not eligible to hold onto the title.

Fighting out of Japan, Erbst is currently one of the top featherweights over the past decade. The 28-year-old has only lost one fight since 2009 and is 19-1-1 since then with wins over Miguel Torres, George Hickman, and Anzor Azhiev. He also holds an impressive tally of twenty one career stoppages – nineteen via submission.

‘The Polish Zombie’ Marcin Wrzosek is known to international fans for being a part of Team McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter. After the show ended he signed with KSW in 2016 and immediately made an impact winning the featherweight title later in the year in just his second fight for the promotion. He would lose the title to Erbst in his first title defense but he bounced back with win over top prospect Roman Szymanski at KSW 41.

Frustrated with his first fight against Erbst, Wrzosek is very determined to get the title back.

“The outcome of our first fight is something I think about everyday,” stated Wrzosek. “This time I’m going to be ready for everything that Kleber will bring to the table. I’m not going to let him make a boring fight again and I will do my best to finish him in spectacular fashion. I want that belt back on my shoulder and once again prove who the best featherweight in KSW actually is.”

KSW 44 takes place June 9 from the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland and will be live around the world on www.KSWTV.com.
