Mario Bautista talks UFC 292 win, Sean O’Malley and what’s next
Mario Bautista has added another win to his record at UFC 292 after fighting off a tough and game opponent in Da’mon Blackshear.
Originally, Bautista was scheduled to square off with former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, but one week prior to the fight, Garbrandt pulled out of the fight.

Then just hours after Blackshear picked up a rare twister submission win at UFC Vegas 78, he took the short notice opportunity and replaced Garbrandt on the card.
Having a last minute replace isn’t the ideal situation for any fighter, but nonetheless the show would go on and it was Bautista who got the win.
Blackshear came out of the gate fast and was able to secure a few takedowns in the opening round, but Bautista was always quick to get back to his feet.
Then has the fight went on, Blackshear would lose some steam and Bautista would have his way on the feet and he would even work in some takedowns of his own to pick up a unanimous decision win.
That win was just the beginning of a great night for Bautista and his team as his teammate Sean O’Malley earned a huge knockout win over Aljamain Sterling to win the UFC bantamweight championship.
Following UFC 292, Bautista once did an interview with MyMMANews to discuss his win, taking the fight on short, celebrating O’Malley’s and his wins and what’s next.
