Mario Bautista discusses his upcoming UFC 292 fight against Cody Garbrandt

Mario Bautista is all ready for the biggest fight at UFC 292 when he take on former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt.

This big time matchup for Bautista is a long time coming.

Bautista has been around he block in the UFC, but he’ll admit it’s just recently that things started to really come together for the rising bantamweight contender.

Right now, Bautista is riding a four-fight winning streak which includes three first round stoppages. He also has posted victories in six of his last seven octagon appearances.

As Bautista has gotten older in the sport, he’s started to finally get the hang of things and he feels that he has now mastered the process of training, cutting weight and properly preparing for fights and that’s what’s lead to this fight.

While Bautista is aware that this a huge opportunity for him, he’s doing every the same that’s gotten him to this point and he’s expecting to add yet another loss to Garbrandt’s record.

Garbrandt hasn’t look the greatest since he won the title back on 2016 as he’s now lost five of his last seven fights.

While the record hasn’t been great for the former champion, he is coming off a win in his last fight when he defeated Trevin Jones by a unanimous decision at UFC 285.

In fact, the last man to Bautista was Jones back in 2021.

The fact that Bautista lost to Jones will be brought up a lot ahead of the fight and Bautista knows he’ll be asked a million times about the loss, but he nows that MMA math doesn’t always add up and he knows he was beating Jones and just got caught with a shot that ended the fight.

Nonetheless, Jones isn’t fighting at UFC 292. Bautista and Garbrandt are and Bautista is expecting the best version of Garbrandt, but he feels that he is the better fighter and he’s planning on leaving Boston with a win.

Prior to UFC 292, Bautista spoke with MyMMANews to discuss his matchup with Garbrandt, he’s plans to climb towards the top with a win and how his teammate Sean O’Malley has looked in his preparation for the UFC 292 main event in which he’ll fight for the bantamweight championship against current champ Aljamain Sterling.
