Marlon Moraes now set to rematch Sheymon Moraes after Shane Burgos forced out of scrap with an injury
Marlon Moraes has gotten a new opponent for the 2022 PFL Championship event, and it’s a familiar name.
Moraes was supposed to make his PFL debut against Shane Burgos on the card but recently, it was reported by MMA reporter Ariel Helwani that Burgos sustained an injury and was forced to pull out. However, on Monday evening, PFL announced on social media that Sheymon Moraes has stepped in to face Marlon Moraes on Nov. 25 at the Hulu Theater in New York City.

Marlon Moraes (23-10-1) is ending his brief retirement to sign with PFL and move up to featherweight. The Brazilian ended his UFC tenure on a four-fight losing skid, as he lost all four by knockout. In his last fight, the former UFC title challenger lost by KO to Song Yadong while before that, he lost to Merab Dvalishvili, Rob Font, and Cory Sandhagen.
In the UFC, Moraes went 5-6 and had notable wins over Aljamain Sterling by KO, Jose Aldo, Raphael Assuncao, and John Dodson while he lost by TKO to Henry Cejudo for the bantamweight title. The 34-year-old is also the former WSOF bantamweight champion.
Sheymon Moraes (14-6) is coming off a decision loss to Lance Palmer in his second fight of the regular season after defeating Boston Salmon in April. The Brazilian competed in the UFC from 2017 to 2019 and went 2-3, while like Marlon Moraes, he also competed in WSOF before signing with the UFC.
Marlon Moraes and Sheymon Moraes also fought seven years ago in 2015 at WSOF 22 for the bantamweight title where Marlon Moraes won by third-round submission to defend his belt for the second time.
