Marlon Moraes vs. Cory Sandhagen expected to fight and headline October 10th UFC Event.
Moraes has been campaigning for a title shot of his own as of late. After all, he’s 5-2 overall in the UFC and is coming off of a decision win over Jose Aldo at UFC 245.
He also has a knockout win over Sterling, which he believes should put him at the top of the list of the next title contenders at 135lbs. While Moraes was impressed by what Sterling did to Sandhagen. He believes his head-to-head KO win puts him ahead in the title shot queue.
Moraes, meanwhile, failed to claim the vacant bantamweight title, losing by third-round TKO to then champ Henry Cejudo. Prior to that, Moraes earned his title shot on the strength of a four-fight winning streak. And since the shot at the belt he earned a decision win over Brazilian MMA legend Jose Aldo.
Now these top 10 bantamweights will come head to head on October 10th.
Sandhagen had his first loss inside the Octagon. He was finished by Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250. That loss ended a seven-win streak. The Elevation Fight Team fighter is considered one of the most promising bantamweights of the division.
Sandhagen (12-1) has been on a tear since joining the UFC in 2018. Winning a couple of fights in LFA before making his octagon debut against Austin Arnett. He’s picked up wins over John Lineker and Raphael Assuncao in his last two outings, before losing to Aljamain Sterling.
Meanwhile, Sandhagen will look to bounce back after his first loss in the UFC, as he tries to get his name back closer to title contention. Colorado native will look to turn to winnings ways and try and produce the winning performance when he earned a unanimous decision win over Raphael Assunção last year.
