Matchmaker Monday Following UFC DC
December couldn’t have started any better for the UFC. Exciting knockouts, crazy submissions and great fights at UFC DC.
Now before we look ahead to this weekend’s insane card, let’s look back to Saturday night and figure out what’s next for some of the fighter’s on the card on this Match Maker Monday.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik, heavyweight
Result: Defeated Alistair Overeem by 5th round KO
Up Next: Francis Ngannou
We knew Rozenstruik had power. Now we know that he has power for a full five round contest. You know who else has power? Francis Ngannou. Let’s see who has the strongest punch in the UFC. Both Rozenstruik and Ngannou want to fight each other so therefore this is an easy fight to make.
Allstair Overeem, heavyweight
Result: Lost to Jairzinho Rozenstruik by 5th round KO
Up Next: Walt Harris
Have to feel for Overeem. The guy was literally four seconds away from a win and putting his name into title contention. Instead he’s going to drop in the rankings after losing to the 14th ranked fighter in the division.
Not sure how long Harris is going to be out given what is going with his family, but I still would like to see the two fight given they were scheduled to be the main event. Also there is no rush to get the two back in the octagon has Overeem will probably miss time with that busted lip.
Marina Rodriguez & Cynthia Calvillo, strawweights
Result: Majority Draw
Up Next: Rematch
I loved the fight and I thought it was highly entertaining. I would like to see the two square off again and try to get a clear winner. Only question mark on the fight would be Calvillo’s weight situation. She missed weight badly for this fight and she’s missed weight on two of her last three fights.
