Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill embrace following their UFC Vegas 10 main event

Matchmaker Monday following UFC Vegas 10

UFC Vegas 10 gave us a razor close historic main event. Angela Hill became the first African America woman to headline a UFC event, but unfortunately for Hill, she came up on the losing end of a close split decision against fan favorite Michelle Waterson.

Following the fight, Waterson received her brown belt in jiu-jitsu in which she showcased a lot of emotional when it was presented to her.

Now that the event is over, let’s find out what’s next for these fighters on this Matchmaker Monday.

Michelle Waterson
Result: defeated Angela Hill by spilt decision at UFC Vegas 10.
Next: Claudia Gadelha

We’ll this an easy one to do a future matchup because Waterson has fought just about everyone that is ranked ahead of her that is still actively competing except for Gadelha.

Now Gadelha is currently injured so a possible fight that might sneak in here would be if Amanda Ribas beats Carla Esparza in December. Ribas would be primed for another big name opponent and Waterson is definitely a big name.

However in all honestly, Waterson is in a spot where she should just be happy getting anyone ranked ahead of her. This last fight was so close and a loss would have put her far away from her goal of a becoming the first mom champ. As for now though, that goal is still alive and if Waterson can win her next outing, she’s in a prime position for another huge fight.

Angela Hill
Result: lost to Michelle Waterson by split decision at UFC Vegas 10
Next: Virna Jandiroba

Wow another tough break for Hill.

She’s now lost back-to-back fights by a close spilt decision. Imagine where she’d be right now if she won both of those.

What’s next for her is tricky given how close her last two fights were. You could still give her higher competition because she proved she can handle it. However she still lost her last two fights, so it’s going to be real interesting in the matchmaking meeting when they discuss Hill’s next move.

As for me I’m going with a fight against Jandiroba just based on that Hill is on a two-fight losing streak and the two are close by in the official UFC rankings.
