Matchmaker Monday following UFC Vegas 14

Matchmaker Monday following UFC Vegas 14

UFC Vegas 14 welcomed a new, but familiar face what maybe its most stacked division.

After a few years at welterweight, former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos returned to 155-pounds and defeated No.7 ranked Paul Felder in the main event.

Let’s find out what’s next for RDA and Felder on this Matchmaker Monday.

Rafael dos Anjos
Result: defeated Paul Felder by split decision at UFC Vegas 14
Next: Justin Gaethje

First off, let me just say that whatever judge scored the fight in favor of Felder should never score another UFC fight ever again.

RDA looked fantastic in his return to the division he once ruled over and following his win he called for a fight with Conor McGregor.

Now he’s not going to get that fight, at likely not anytime soon. McGregor is booked against Poirier and if he wins there’s going ti be something huge coming his way.

As for RDA, I would like to see him fight Gaethje next and here’s why.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is supposedly retired even though the UFC hasn’t stripped him of the title yet. McGregor and Poirier are booked. I also think a Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler fight is one that should be booked.

That leaves only Gaethje and Dan Hooker left. Originally, I was all about Gaethje and Hooker, but now I really want to see RDA take on Gaethje. The winner of that fight would in a great position within the division as well.

Paul Felder
Result: lost to Rafael dos Anjos by split decision at UFC Vegas 14
Next: Beneil Dariush

Felder is a tough dude. He took the fight on five days notice and lasted the full 25 minutes.

While he showed a lot of heart, the fact of the matter is that he lost back-to-back fights and now he’s likely going to fight someone ranked behind him next.

With that being said, I like a fight with Dariush.

Dariush has looked great as of late and is definitely deserving of someone ranked above him. Plus this would be a battle of two great people who just so happen to be savages inside of the cage.
