The score will finally settle when Dustin Poirier meets former UFC double champion Conor McGregor in the trilogy at UFC 264 on Saturday, July 10.

A pair of top five welterweights in Gilbert Burns and Stephen Thompson clash in the co-main event inside a sold-out T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the featured bout of the preliminary portion of the card. “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit faces off against Max Griffin in a welterweight clash. With both fighters riding a two fight win streak, a dominant win for either fighter could put them one step closer to getting a top ranked opponent in their division.

Carlos Condit has been a fan favorite since his days in WEC. Known for is relentless work ethic and kill or be killed fighting style, Condit quickly became synonymous for back and forth wars and impressive stoppages. Coming off of two decision wins over Matt Brown and Court McGee, Condit looks to make it 3 in a row against the hard hitting Griffin.

Max “Pain” Griffin got a taste of the UFC in 2012 when he suffered a third round submission defeat to Matt Secor on The Ultimate Fighter Season 16. Griffin would go on a tear following that bout and work his way back to the UFC in 2016. With the promotion ever since, Griffin is currently riding a two fight winning streak as well, looking to capitalize on “The Natural Born Killer’s” ranking and name to catapult him into a household name.

Round 1: Griffin starts the contest with a leg kick to gauge the distance followed by another. Condit comes forward with a combo of his own. Griffin follows up with two more leg kicks that takes Condit off balance. Condit fires a teep and headkick to keep Griffin at bay. Griffin lands another leg kick that moves Condit off balance, again. Condit presses the action with a punch combination, with little success. Griffin gets a punch combo off of his own. Condit throws a range gauging headkick to keep distance. Condit throws a Spinning hook kick and Griffin lands a hard right that drops Condit in his tracks. Griffin pounces on a wounded Condit looking to finish the contest early. Condit survives and gets back to his feet. He attempts a flying knee but misses as the round draws to a close.

Round 2: Condit fires an early headkick to a brutalizing leg kick. Griffin comes forward with a punch, gazing his target. Condit fires a hook, leading into a Thai clinch while he searches for a knee. Condit nails Griffin with a straight right that stops him in his tracks. Griffin pops a jab while Condit comes forward, pressing the action. Griffin lands a hard hook and Condit walks right through to continue his attack. Griffin is noticeably slowing down while Condit picks up his pace. Condit partially lands a spinning heel kick while Griffin is on the retreat. Condit is taking control of the round as he baits an elbow before landing a cracking right hand. Condit attempts the coveted “Seanchaí Kick” (cartwheel kick) but to no avail. With 10 seconds left and both fighters throw with neither landing as the second bell sounds.

Round 3: Both fighters trade jabs to get the round started. Griffin gets to work early pressuring Condit with an onslaught of punches. Condit is attempting to push the pressure but is getting beat to the punch by Griffin time and time again, absorbing a slew of punishment. Like a walking zombie, Condit is eating punches and walking through while throwing his own strikes. Both fighters are landing their share of formidable punishment before Condit switches levels for the takedown. Griffin shakes off the takedown attempt, cracks Condit and forces his own takedown. Griffin stands and looks to put a stamp on this bout by getting a second takedown. Condit fends it off, looking for a last second “Hail Mary”-Kimura to close the final round.
