Max Holloway open to fighting The Korean Zombie following win at UFC Kansas City
Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway says he is open to fighting The Korean Zombie following his big win at UFC Kansas City.
Holloway turned in a solid five-round outing against Allen as he outstruck his opponent for the majority of the rounds in order to take the unanimous decision win. Of course, Holloway is in a tough spot right now at 145lbs. That’s because he is universally regarded as the second-best fighter in the division behind the UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who has already defeated Holloway three times in the Octagon.
Since Holloway is unlikely to get a title shot anytime soon, he will have to fight other contenders at 145lbs, and one of the top-10 ranked fighters in the weight class is The Korean Zombie. Despite both men being on the UFC roster for over a decade each, they have not fought each other. But that may change soon.
Speaking to the media following his big win at UFC Kansas City, Holloway said that he wants to fight The Korean Zombie next, and he would like to fight him in Australia.
“Korean Zombie, that’s the only guy of my time, with the older guys, that I didn’t get to fight. I would love that fight. There’s a fight in my agents’ country, Australia. Australia is supposed to be happening sometime, we don’t know when, and if Korean Zombie wants it he can get it. I would love to fight him. That’s one of the guys I grew up watching. I’m kind of tripping on how we didn’t fight yet. How did we not fight? If that’s one of the guys, that’s one of the guys. I would love to share the octagon with him. He’s one of the OGs that I didn’t get to fight, and we came up in the same era, and we didn’t fight each other,” Holloway said (via MMAjunkie.com).
The Korean Zombie does not currently have a fight booked, so we will see what the UFC matchmakers do with these two fighters, and if Holloway ends up getting the fight he wants.
