41-year old Olympic swimmer, May Ooi, signs with ONE Championship
May Ooi, 41, represented Singapore in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Now 25 years after swimming in the games, Ooi is a professional mixed martial artist signed to ONE Championship.
Ooi will take on Malaysian, Ann Osman (5-3) at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur next month.
She holds a 2-2 record with fights in Rebel Fighting Championship and the World Series of Fighting Global Championship.
Ooi has trained in Capoeira for more than 10 years.
During the Olympic games she competed in seven events, despite not winning any medals. Ooi swam in the women’s freestyle race for 50, 200, and 400 meters, women’s butterfly race for 100 and 200 meters, and the women’s individual medley for 200 and 400 meters.
