Maycee Barber responds to Paige VanZant declining fight
Maycee Barber has made it known she wants to fight Paige VanZant, yet VanZant isn’t so interested.
VanZant recently took to Instagram and made a post about respect and called out every single member of the UFC’s strawweight and flyweight division except for Maycee Barber which Barber saw and responded to.
Maycee Barber (@MayceeBarber) just posted this to her IG. Apparently her response to Paige VanZant’s (@paigevanzant) statement earlier this week. pic.twitter.com/ogHsbrAIPO

“Alright, so I’m out at the P.I. [UFC Performance Institute] getting my recovery in, and this thing, my little phone here, just keeps blowing up about Paige VanZant trying to get a fight. She keeps going on and on about this respect and this trying to get a girl from her girl power union to come out and fight her in the cage.” Maycee Barber said. “And listen, Paige, I’m not looking to fight you out of respect. I’m looking to go out there and sign a contract to fight another girl and have her actually show up. And I saw your thing on TMZ about begging Dana for a fight and listen. Dana White, TMZ, Paige Vanzant, I’m right here! I’ve been waiting. So either sign the contract and show up, otherwise give me a contract with someone with the last name VanZant.”
Maycee Barber is 8-0 and coming off of a TKO win over Gillan Robertson at UFC Boston last week. Before that, she TKO’d JJ Aldrich in her flyweight debut. In her UFC debut she beat Hannah Cifers by TKO.
Paige VanZant, meanwhile, returned to the win column back in January as she submitted Rachael Ostovich. Before that, she lost to Jessica Rose-Clark, and Michelle Waterson by submission. In her UFC career, she is 5-3 and has been hindered by arm injuries after having surgery multiple times on it. She also has one fight left on her contract. And, makes it clear she does not want that to be against Maycee Barber.
