Michael Chandler Wants to Finish The Story

“We both got a job to fight but the UFC also has a job as well.” -Michael Chandler

Michael Chandler wants to finish the story.

Whether it be his own or the one between him and Conor McGregor. Chandler has been preparing for their fight since they were coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter.” He is nearing two years of not fighting because he keeps being shelved for this fight that was set up by the UFC between him and McGregor.

While he is ready to move on from this, Chandler also believes that the UFC and McGregor owe it to fans to deliver on something that has been cooking for so long. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Chandler said as much.

“I have options inside of the division, some very good options,” Chandler said. But he feels the fight between him and McGregor should happen and it should happen before the end of the year.

“It makes a lot of sense to make McGregor versus Chandler in December. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t. It’s Vegas, it’s going to cap off the end of the year 2024, let’s finish this storybook. I’m ready to go out there and do it.”

It has been built up for a while, too long a while. While Chandler wants to get busy, he also feels like it would be wrong to not deliver on the fight. Chandler was asked to make one final pitch to the powers that be in the UFC, so he did.

“ We all got a job to do here. Conor’s got a job to do, to show up and train. I got a job to do, train, and show up. We both got a job to fight but the UFC also has a job as well. The UFC is the epitome of fight promotion on the planet, they are the only ones who can do it at this level. Dana White, Hunter Campbell, Sean Shelby,  Mick Maynard, these guys who are putting together the fights every single week, they are absolute savages. And if they don’t make Chandler versus McGregor then it’s doing a huge disservice to, not just the UFC but ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ franchise. We have to finish this story.”
