Michelle Waterson injured, bout against Amanda Ribas rescheduled for UFC 274

Michelle Waterson injured, bout with Amanda Ribas moved to UFC 274

UFC strawweights Amanda Ribas (11-2) and Michelle Waterson (18-9) will have their upcoming March 26 bout moved to UFC 274 on May 7.

The reason for the delay in the contest between the #8 ranked Waterson and #9 ranked Ribas has been identified as an undisclosed injury to “The Karate Hottie” Waterson according to a report from MMA Fighting.

The two ladies were originally supposed to meet more than a year ago in January 2021 on the Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor 2 card, but Waterson had to withdraw from that contest as well. She would later move up to flyweight to take on Marina Rodriguez on short notice, falling by way of unanimous decision in that contest.

Ribas filled in to replace Waterson on that January 2021 UFC 257 card and also fell to Rodriguez by way of second round TKO. She later bounced back with a unanimous decision victory over Virna Jandiroba at UFC 267.

UFC 274 will take place in Phoenix, Arizona and will be headlined by a lightweight title bout between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje.

Current UFC 274 lineup:

Charles Oliveira vs. Justin Gaethje – 155 lbs
