Gracie New Jersey’s newest black belt, Mickey Gall (5-2), has been added to the UFC on ESPN 5 fight card taking place in his home state of New Jersey on August 3.
Gall will face Salim Touahri (10-3) at the Prudential Center in Newark, his first pro fight at home.
Touahri desperately needs a win with the promotion as he dropped his first two UFC bouts with a split decision to Keita Nakamura and a unanimous decision to Warlley Alves. The 29-year-old Polish fighter had previously won five straight bouts in Poland and Russia prior to coming to the UFC.
Gall is coming off a second round TKO loss to Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner Diego Sanchez.
The 27-year old fighter was hospitalized after the fight and then released a statement giving an indication as to what went wrong.
“I want to let you guys know that I didn’t just ‘gas out’ in there. Turns out I fought with failing kidneys and Rhabdo. It zapped me. The fight turned out like s***. I’m so mad I told you guys to tune in so many times. I’m out of the Vegas hospital I’ve been at. Had a little rest, now I’m all better. No long term damage. Flying back to Jersey today. I’ll be back in the Octagon in the next few months. FOR REAL I’M ALL GOOD.
I love this game. I love this life and I got a lot more to do.”
Gall holds UFC submission wins over CM Punk, Sage Northcutt, Mike Jackson, and George Sullivan.
UFC Newark is scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight bout between Colby Covington and Robbie Lawler. The main card will air live on ESPN.
