Miesha Tate pregnant, expecting baby girl
Earlier today, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate announced that she is pregnant. The official statement from Tate comes following a post on Instagram by her mother last week which prompted rumors that the retired mixed martial artist was with child.
Miesha’s official statement below:
“Happy New Year everyone! 2016 & 2017 were crazy years full of transitions for me but I’m so happy where I’m at now moving into 2018. I have many things to be grateful for but one stands out in particular, you see there’s this man who has brought joy and happiness into my life in a way I’ve never known before, Johnny thank you for that. I’m proud to announce we are expecting a beautiful baby girl. Now you can sit and speculate… or you can just be happy for us. I’d like to ask that everyone respect the fact that (like we have been) we would like to continue to live our private lives primarily out of the media. I won’t comment on specifics so just know that I am very happy, very excited and my life has never felt so complete. Tate had long been in a relationship with UFC bantamweight Bryan Caraway but the two parted ways sometime in 2017.
The new man in her life, Johnny Nunez, appeared on two seasons of the Ultimate Fighter, TUF 22 and TUF 25. It was the most recent season where speculation about a relationship between he and Tate began to circulate.
Tate retired from MMA in November 2016, shocking the world with her announcement following a loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205. Tate came into UFC 205 as the No. 1 ranked female bantamweight in the UFC. She won the title back in March defeating Holly Holm at UFC 196, and then lost the belt to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200.
