Invicta FC 44 adds Miesha Tate and Yves Edwards on commentary, fans return

Miesha Tate reacts to Lauren Murphy loss at UFC on ABC 3: “Tonight wasn’t my night”

UFC women’s flyweight Miesha Tate reacted to her loss against Lauren Murphy at UFC on ABC 3, saying that “tonight wasn’t my night.”

Tate, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, was making her 125lbs debut in the Octagon, and a win over Murphy likely would have earned her the next title shot against UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. However, it was not the fight that Tate expected, as she was outstruck and outwrestled by Murphy en route to a unanimous decision loss. She also took quite a bit of damage in the fight as her face and nose were bloody following the 15 minutes of being inside the cage with Murphy.

Instead of making excuses for the loss, Tate is taking the high road following her latest defeat. Taking to her social media following the loss to Murphy, Tate admitted that it wasn’t her night, but she promised to learn lessons from her latest defeat in the Octagon.

“Some women pay a lot of money for lips like these! All I had to do was get in a little fist fight! Tonight wasn’t my night, congratulations to Lauren Murphy and we continue to learn the lessons of life! I had the most UH-mazing dinner at my favorite restaurant Cheeseboat Brooklyn and met Mama Cheeseboat herself. I’m still blessed beyond measure win lose or draw! Thank you to all those who continue to love and support me regardless, you know who you are,” Tate wrote on her Instagram.

Since returning from a five-year absence, Tate is 1-2 in the UFC, with a TKO win over Marion Reneau and two decision losses to Ketlen Vieira and Murphy. It will be interesting to see if she sticks around at 125lbs, moves back up to 135lbs, or decides to step away from the game once again following this latest defeat.

What do you think is next for Miesha Tate following her loss to Lauren Murphy at UFC on ABC 3?
