Nasrat Haqparast vs. Alex Munoz added to UFC’s Aug. 8 event
Nasrat Haqparast and Alex Munoz will meet in a lightweight bout at the UFC’s Aug. 8 event. The fight was first reported by BILD.de and was later confirmed by MMA Junkie.
Haqparast (11-3) was stopped for the first time in his career in his last outing at UFC 246, where Drew Dober needed just 70 seconds to defeat Haqparast. Prior to that defeat, Haqparast had won three in a row with victories over Marc Diakiese, Thibault Goiti and Joaquim Silva.
Munoz (6-0) will make making his UFC debut in the fight. Originally he was scheduled to debut at UFC on ESPN+ 27 in February against Luis Pena, but he was forced to pull out of the fight with an injury. Munoz, who is a wrestling coach at Team Alpha Male, is a Dana White Contender Series alum, as he defeated Nick Newell by unanimous decision on the series in 2018.
The UFC’s Aug. 8 event does not have an official location, but it is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. A heavyweight fight between Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Olenik will headline the event, while former middleweight champion Chris Weidman returns to 185 pounds to fight Omari Akhmedov in the co-main event.
