Nate Diaz still looking for a fight for this summer, calls fellow fighters ‘scared’
Nate Diaz is still without a fight.
It has been months since Nate Diaz began asking the UFC publically for a matchup and still no answer. Diaz last fought back in June of last year when he lost to Leon Edwards. Edwards has been promised a title shot with his win, but with the loss, Diaz is in no man’s land. Diaz isn’t the most active fighter on Twitter, but he uses it when he wants something. he can be found calling for a fight or dropping some insults occasionally.
In March, Diaz took to social media to formally ask the UFC for a fight or a release for the organization.
“I would like to request to be released from the @ufc @danawhite @hunter,” he wrote. “I apologize for asking online but u don’t give me a fight asap I got s–t to do.”
Diaz is one of the most popular fighters on the roster and is constantly being called out by other fighters. In the past few weeks, he has been called out by the likes of Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson, and Khamzat Chimaev. The lack of possible options is not the issue, but what is? Diaz is on the last fight of his contract and although there were rumors that he would be receiving a new one, no official word of that has been announced. If Diaz gets his last fight he would be a free agent and the UFC may not want that to happen without another deal in place.
As mentioned before, Diaz’s popularity makes him a valuable fighter for the UFC. He draws PPV buys and losing him would not be what they want. Recently he actually express some interest in fighting for Bellator. he wanted to get on the Bellator Hawaii card with his friend Yancy Medireros. Diaz has also toyed with the idea of retiring from MMA and perhaps trying his hand at boxing.
Whatever his next move will be he is unable to get on with it until he gets his last UFC fight. Now he is asking again for a fight in July.

International Fight Week takes place in July and that PPV card is filling up fast. Diaz would be a welcome addition but the UFC may need to secure things before offering him a fight.
