Nathan Kelly relishing second fight on PFL vs. Zachary Hicks
Nathan Kelly joins Lenny from MyMMANews this week to talk about his upcoming PFL Challenger Series vs. Zachary Hicks on March 3rd.
Nathan (6-2) will travel across the pond for his second outing for the promotion as he seeks to stamp his claim against the American Zachary (8-4).
Nathan in his last bout fought on the main card of PFL 8: 2022 Playoffs last year in Cardiff, where he shined against Ben Ellis earning a first-round submission. The Irishmen training out of SBG Ireland did enough for a call-up to the Challenger Series following the fight.
Thanks to the PFL and Nathan for setting this up.
Nathan Kelly will travel to Orlando, Florida to take on Zachary Hicks in a Featherweight showcase. What does Nathan think of the fight?
“He (Zachary) looks composed, calm and strong, but I think everyone is at this level. I have seen a lot of things that will work to my strengths. I think he is very grappling orientated. Ben Ellis has a similar style, so I am out of one camp into another. I am going to prepare the same way.
I am going to hit him hard and either spark him out or make him panic wrestle. I think this fella (Zachary) will want to wrestle, close the distance and shoot for a take down or try and push me up against the fence.
I will be well rehearsed, well drilled for what he has to offer. My hands at the minute are very crisp. I have been doing a lot of extra work with my striking coaches. Just piecing things together and getting another level of confidence in my striking. I am a black belt in jiu-jitsu, I am competing at black belt level tournaments and winning them, I am not afraid to grapple and in fact I can grapple if I want to grapple.”
